Houston, Texas (Jan. 8, 2025) – A deadly crash resulted in the closure of multiple lanes of traffic on IH-69 near Kirby Drive. A multi-vehicle crash claimed the life of one and injured several others.
Police say the first crash occurred sometime around 2:30 a.m. First responders believe a vehicle struck the barrier on the freeway, causing the vehicle to come to a rest in one of the lanes. The driver of that vehicle then exited the car. This is when a second vehicle struck the stalled car.
The driver of the second vehicle, a man reported to be in his 40s, was killed in the collision. A third vehicle then struck the second, injuring two people in that car.
During the chain-reaction crash, the driver of the initial vehicle leaped from the freeway. A witness saw the man jump and alerted police the individual was below the freeway. This individual is reported to be in critical condition in a nearby hospital.
The investigation into this accident remains ongoing at this time.
