Houston, Texas (Dec. 31, 2023) – A 16-year-old is facing charges after fleeing from police and injuring six people in connection.

The incident began near FM 2090 in North Harris County when police noticed a Chevrolet pickup truck had no tail lights. Officers attempted to pull over the vehicle, but the driver refused to stop. Some reports indicate the teen reached speeds of up to 110 MPH.

The 16-year-old continued to evade police, leading them towards I-69, ultimately getting on the freeway near Northpark.

A collision occurred as the driver entered the Kingwood area, striking a Toyota Tundra. The Tundra lost control due to the crash, colliding with a Chevrolet Equinox, causing it to roll over.

In total, six people were injured. Four people in the Equinox were taken to Kingwood Hospital for evaluation, including a 3-year-old. Two individuals in the Tundra were also taken to a nearby hospital for medical evaluation.

The driver of the pickup truck was reportedly not injured in the crash. Reports say the driver was also accompanied by another 16-year-old passenger. Neither were reportedly wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.
