Houston, Texas (Aug. 28, 2023)

A driver is in custody after killing a woman in a hit-and-run collision and then slamming into a nearby home. The driver, who has been identified as 33-year-old Joshua Ivie, attempted to flee on foot following the crash but was apprehended by local authorities.

The woman, identified as 44-year-old Carolee Dwer, was struck near Cypresswood Drive and W. Cypress Forest Drive in the Willowbrook area.

Police say Ivie, driving a Ford Explorer, is suspected of speeding when he left the road and struck Dwer. Ivie then hit the corner of a nearby home. No one in the home was hurt in the crash, but the home reportedly suffered substantial damages.

Ivie will be charged with failure to stop and render aid, resulting in death in connection with the crash.
