Shepherd, Texas (Nov. 8, 2023)

A series of explosions were reported on Wednesday morning from a chemical plant near FM 1127 in San Jacinto County. A thick plum of black smoke and a fire could be seen coming from the scene of the accident.

It’s believed the incident took place at or near the Sound Resource Solutions plant. At this time, one employee has been confirmed to have been injured in the explosion, possibly suffering a range of burns. 

A one-mile shelter-in-place order has been ordered in the nearby area. The shelter-in-place order was previously set at a five-mile radius. 

It is unknown at this time what caused the explosion to ignite. The full extent of the injuries in connection with this event is also yet to be entirely determined.
